Blyth Spartans beat Alnwick Town in preseason friendly
Alnwick Town hosted Blyth Spartans at St. James’ Park on Thursday evening
Blyth Spartans and Alnwick Town continued their respective preseason preparations on Thursday evening, with Marc Nash’s visitors sealing a 2-0 victory at St. James’ Park.

Spartans came closest to opening the scoring early on, with a deflected Rio Joisce cross striking the Alnwick post after half an hour. The two sides would head in level at the break before goals from new signing Olly Martin and substitute Liam Clavering handed Blyth the victory.
In a blow to the away side, however, Nathan Kidd was forced off through injury during the opening exchanges of the match.
Next up for Spartans is the Better Together Cup, which is set to be held at Croft Park this weekend. Nash’s men will contest the Supporters Direct Shield against Dunstable FC on Sunday afternoon. For their part, Alnwick will continue their preseason campaign with a home fixture against Hebburn Reserves on Saturday.
