Blyth Spartans draw for FA Youth Cup First Round revealed

Blyth Spartans U18s will host Doncaster Rovers in the First Round Proper of this year’s FA Youth Cup, it has been confirmed.

The Northumberland outfit will welcome their South Yorkshire counterparts to Croft Park on Wednesday, November 4th for a 7.30pm kick-off, and will be hoping for a repeat of their barnstorming performance in the Third Qualifying Round, during which they beat Stockton Town 4-1. A Jake Taylor hat-trick set the tone for a commanding display, with Dan Cole also on the score sheet.

Speaking after the final whistle, Spartans academy captain Joe Watson said: “I think we grew into the game after a quick start and then we dropped off a bit. Then after that, second half we were decent, showed what we can do. We were pleased with the result, but we know we can play better than that.”

On entering the First Round, Watson added: “It should be good. Some big teams in there, it’ll be a good challenge.”
