Bamburgh Castle (235) v West Linton (118-9)

Bamburgh beat Scottish visitors West Linton by 117 runs on Sunday.

Bamburgh won the toss and openers Richard Alsept and Harry Lobb attacked from the start.

Despite giving a couple of chances each, they put on 104 in 18 overs before Lobb was bowled by Tony Brian for 40.

Lawrence Reeves joined Alsept who had just reached his 50 and continued to attack before Alsept fell for 79 with the total on 144 in the 27th over.

Reeves struck 52 off 46 balls before he retired.

Bamburgh then collapsed, losing their last seven wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs, with only Michael Kirkup making double figures with 20. He was last man dismissed in the 39th over with the total on 235.

Star bowler for West Linton was veteran Davy Wright (5-30).

In reply, the West Linton batsmen found it hard to score off good accurate bowling from the home side and finished their innings on 118-9 off 40 overs.

The only batsman who looked reasonably comfortable was Rory McGregor who made a patient 38 off 68 balls.

Best bowling figures for Bamburgh was Josh Bailey (4-25), but credit to all of the bowlers.

Another good win for Bamburgh in the match sponsored by the Castle Inn. The previous week Bamburgh beat St Georges Rovers by 63 runs, sponsored by Rington’s Tea.
