THE weather was the only winner on Saturday as Alnwick’s Durham & Northumberland Division One clash at Ponteland was cancelled.
But the Greensfield side will be aiming to get back into action when they tackle a double-bill of annual festive fixtures.
Boxing Day sees Alnwick travel to Berwick to do battle for the Bill Renton Claret Jug, which is currently held by the hosts.
On New Year’s Eve, Alnwick will be on their travels again, with a visit to Morpeth, where they will try to wrestle away the Brett Horse Trophy from the home side.
Also up for grabs will be the Dave Routledge player-of-the-match award, which is currently held by Alnwick’s Darren Oliver.
Alnwick are scheduled to return to league action on January 7, when they host Guisborough.
