Avery is second in England triumph

In his very first appearance for England, local athlete Carl Avery performed well to finish second in a Home International event at the weekend.

Avery, who comes from Seahouses, runs for Morpeth Harriers, and at Nottingham’s Wollaton Park on Saturday he finished 40 seconds behind race winner, Adam Hickey of Southend.

The pair’s one-two helped England to a superb country team triumph in the Home Countries International.
