The Seniors Trophy (sponsored by Mick Hubbard): The trophy was played for last Wednesday by a record high seniors field of 42 players. Top man was Brian Mcfall with a credible 40pts, followed by club stalwart Lawrie Stewart on 38pts and Keith Richardson with 37pts in third on countback from Tom Pickard and Alan Snaith. Three 2s were recorded but all three players opted out of entering the 2’s sweep so the money will be rolled over to the next Seniors’ Summer Series competition.
British Heart Foundation: Sunday was the British Heart Foundation with both the men’s and ladies competitions played on the same day. Kevin Murphy headed the field with a net 67 followed closely by Colin Donaldson and Mark Friar, both of whom shot a net 68, with Colin edging second place on countback. There were two 2s on the day which should ensure a nice payout for both Ian Tate and Gordon Taylor.

Bates Cup: With four players tying on nett 70, Gary Scott’s 68 was good enough to land the Bates Cup. 1st G Scott 76-8-68, 2nd I Gray 78-8-70 (back 9), 3rd A Hill 90-20-70.
The roll-over 2s club was shared between D Cook, A Brown and S Williams but Daniel Cook’s shot on the par 3 6th was the nearest the pin enabling him to scoop the roll-over Captain’s Charity pool.
Juniors: The Northumberland Junior Golf Tour comprises four nine-hole competitions with the competitors gaining points towards the order of merit. The top four will form the Northumberland team to contest the grand final against teams from Cumbria and Durham. Warkworth Junior Freddie Bremner got off to a fine start at Ponteland, picking up 190 points with an excellent nett 38 against the par of 35. The next round was at Alnmouth (Foxton) on June 14 with further rounds at Tynemouth and Hexham.
Robinson Cup: With a couple dropping out at the last minute, Barry and Marion Punton’s late inclusion was rewarded when they pipped Dave Fish and Betty Black by 0.5 of a shot to land the trophy. 1st B & M Punton 88-17-71, 2nd D Fish & B Black 92-19.5-71.5, 3rd S Stewart & J Hardy 90-18-72.
Club outing: On Friday, June 5, the longest-drive winner in the club’s trip to The Hobson Golf Course was Mr N Bailey not Mr Davison as stated last week.

Bryan Tatters Memorial Stableford: Held on Saturday and the winner was Chris Wilkinson with 38 points, beating Mark Cowens on a better back nine.
