Alnmouth, Alnwick, Belford and Warkworth all feature.
Turkey Trot: 1 A Joyce 37pts; 2 J Eggleston 37; 3 R Bell 35; 4 I Wort 35; 5 Jon Young 34; 6 B Barrett 34; 7 J Wright 34; 8 B Keenan 34; 9 V Brown 33; 10 Jim Hunter 33.
Winter League: Blanket photo finish quite adequately describes the leaderboard in week eight of the Winter League at the Swansfield Park course last week, with no less than five players all scoring 39pts.
After the computer had sorted out the countbacks, Jimmy Cookson was declared the winner but only by virtue of a better last three-hole total than Guy Ridley, who was placed second.
Third was Albert Straughan, fourth Kenny Boyd and finally the fifth player also with the same points total was Lawrie Stewart. Eight players joined the Twos club so a low payout is forecast and eight had their winter handicaps chopped, notably Guy Ridley who now is playing off one.
Zecca Net Accumulator: In the penultimate week, it is very tight at the top and, despite being well down the field on the day, Peter Lewis retains top spot on the leaderboard with 119pts.
Hot on his heels only one point adrift is Chris Jobson on 118, then Dan Harrison and Kevin Murphy both on 116 and with Chris, Dan and Kevin having lowest scores counting of 36,35 and 34.
It’s all to play for in the final round this coming Sunday. In the order of Merit, Wayne Belisle heads the table with 40pts. Peter Lewis 35, Kevin Murphy 34 and Guy Ridley 33, make up the chasing pack.
Winter League (week eight): 1 J Cookson 39pts (on last three); 2 G Ridley 39 (on back nine); 3 A Straughan 39 (on back nine).
