WITH the winter league now past the halfway mark it is still anyone’s title at Swansfield.

The course, which now has numerous signs of new head green keeper Alan Golding making his mark, is drying out nicely after the wintry spell.

The latest mover up the leaderboard last week with 10 points for his winning score was Russell Cooke, who with an 18-hole score of 36 points nudged Gordon Johnstone into second place only on countback.

In third spot, leading no less than eight players all with the same score of 34 points also on countback was Bob Shepherd.

Results: Winter League (Sunday) – 1 R Cooke 36pts, 2 G Johnstone 36pts, 3 R Shepherd 34pts.

Following his successful degree course in sports management, Dan Harrison, a one-time rising star of the junior section and also league team player at Alnwick, has now been installed as assistant manager at the club.

IN the latest round of the winter league Dave Hall took the 10 points for first place with a net 33 ahead of Stuart Lowrey on 35.

A third-place finish for Geoff Tong means he stretches his overall lead to 14 points, he is now on 43 with Jamie Bissett second on 29 and Dave now third on 24.
