A north Northumberland girl recently returned from an action-packed weekend competing at a prestigious national championships.
North Northumberland Pony Club member Annabel Blythe, from Thrunton, competed the weekend before last at the Pony Club National Championships, held at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire.
Annabel qualified for both show-jumping and eventing, having competed in the Pony Club Area 2 regional events at Kildale in North Yorkshire and Cumwhinton in Cumbria.
Annabel and her horse Jasper have qualified for the Championships for the last four years and have formed a very successful partnership over that time.
They competed on the Friday against 76 other riders from all over the UK, completing two clear rounds at show-jumping, and then challenged nine others in a jump-off against the clock.
Annabel and Jasper jumped another clear round and finished fourth overall, a mere eight seconds behind the rider in first place.
The following two days, the pair competed in dressage, show-jumping and cross-country and again were successful, finishing 12th overall and as only one of 17 who managed to complete what was a very challenging cross-country course.
