With a flat sea and very little colour in the water, conditions were poor for codling on Sunday, January 4, although a few anglers did manage to catch fish.
Roberto Peruzzo did well to win the match with a really good conditioned cod of 7lb 7½oz. This was also the heaviest fish of the match and the season so far. Second was Anthony Gibbison who had three cod for 7lb ½oz.
Other anglers weighing in were John Stephenson, one cod, 4lb 2oz; Kevin Donnelly, one cod, 2lb 1oz; William Morton, two cod, 1lb 11½oz; Andrew Stanton, one cod, 1lb 5½oz; George Hornsby, one cod,1lb 5½oz; Antony Abbott, one cod, 15oz; Ian Hall, one cod, 14oz.
The winner of the singles knockout, which was fished over the last two matches, was Steve Scott who had four cod for 15lb 4oz, narrowly beating Willy Morton who had seven cod for 14lb 7½oz.
