ANOTHER week of calm seas and clear water saw several anglers turning to the flat sandy beaches in search of some sport with flounders.
This would prove to be the right decision for Mick McMenamin who won the match with 11 flounders for 7lb 10oz, second was Anthony Gibbison with one cod and one flounder for 3lb 13½oz and third was Paul Buddles with three flounders and a coal fish for 3lb 4oz.
Ian Hall had the heaviest fish – a cod of 3lb 3oz.
Other anglers weighing in and full match results were: Mick McMenamin, 11 flounders, 7lb 10½oz; Anthony Gibbison, one cod, and one flounder, 3lb 13½oz; Paul Buddles, three flounders, one coal, fish 3lb 4oz; Ian Hall, one cod, 3lb 3oz; Steve McKee, six flounders, 3lb; John Stephenson, one cod, 2lb 7oz; Willy Morton, one cod, 1lb 6½oz; Steve Ayling, two flounders, 1lb.
The next match is on Sunday, registration is at AFS Country Store, Alnwick, between 3.30pm and 4pm, fishing between 4.30pm and 9.30pm.
