Alnwick U18s end season on a high with victory

Alnwick U18s (116) v Morpeth (115-9)

Alnwick U18s closed their season with a win over close rivals Morpeth, in a game which went right to the wire.

Captain Jonny Roxburgh and teammate Jamie Yeouart both performed well on the day, helping Alnwick to victory.

Roxburgh scored 32 while Yeouart hit 36, which included the first six of his playing career.

With the ball, the former ended with figures of 4-21, including two wickets in consecutive balls, while the latter closed with 3-16.

Max Harrison (1-17) chipped in with a wicket.

In what was a tense finish, Morpeth were 115-8 off 19 overs, and needed two to win from the final six balls.

With nerves of steel, Michael Kirkup (1-11) bowled the last over and after the Morpeth batsmen tried to steal some yards, Kirkup came through with a wicket maiden getting Carrick stumped off the final ball of the Morpeth innings.

Morpeth finished 115-9 and Alnwick came away with the win.
