Alnwick tumble

Alnwick U15 v Bedlington U15

Northumberland Junior League

ALNWICK U15 side narrowly lost to their Bedlington counterparts in an entertaining game of cricket.

Batting first, Alnwick made 89-5 thanks mainly to an brilliant partnership between Max Harrison (26) and Jack Convery (24). Tom Woodburn chipped in with a useful 17.

In reply, Bedlington lost early wickets to Andrew Wright (2-17) and looked to have a mountain to climb with Alnwick producing tight bowling, athletic fielding (particularly from Ollie Scott) and brave wicket-keeping from Ryan Kelly. However, B Jones produced a match-winning 41 not out to see Bedlington home with three overs to spare.

An enjoyable game played in good spirit by two well-matched teams.
