Following a goalless opening period, the Magpies edged themselves ahead shortly after the interval when Michael Enwere struck in the 51st minute, and looked to be on course for a valuable three points until they came unstuck in the closing stages.

First, Jack Fennell was shown a red card with nine minutes left on the clock, and with his side at a numerical disadvantage, manager Andy Waugh could only watch on as Billingham snatched a leveller at the death courtesy of Dan Dryden.

Saturday’s result sees Alnwick fall to 10th in the Ebac Northern League Division Two table having failed to win any of their last three fixtures. Their next outing comes away at Prudhoe YC Seniors on Saturday, September 5th.
