Alnwick Bowling Club
Alnwick lady bowlers will be well represented in the national finals at Leamington Spa in Warwickshire later this year.
Following the success last week of the triple of Sylvia Dale, Carol Hume and Ann Daley (s) the four was successful this week.
Later this year, Susan Ratcliffe, Sylvia Taylor, Jo Lormor and Yvonne Turner (s) will be joining them.
They reached the final of the Northumberland ladies’ fours with wins against Burradon 25-16, Hexham 21-10 and in the semi-final 22-14 against Whitley Bay and Monkseaton.
Skip Yvonne Turner said: “We played well and look forward to the final and then the nationals.”
Still to come is the county pairs and singles in which Alnwick has further representation.
But there has been mixed fortune for the ladies in the Collins and Shipley league.
They have had wins against Alexandra Park, 12points, and Cowpen and Crofton, 12points, but lost to Burradon, 5points, Ponteland, 3points, and Benfield, 2points.
In has been no better for the men. In the Northumberland Nines League, they lost to league leaders Backworth 8-0 and by 71 shots to 29 and against Hirst Park in the Clegg League 12-2 and by 87 shots to 54.
There was success, however, for the first outing of the team in the North Northumberland League with a resounding 6-2 win over Amble.
