Alnmouth & Lesbury Cricket Club’s under-13s clinched the Northumberland Junior Premier League title on Sunday with a convincing victory at Stocksfield.
Batting first, Alnmouth scored 105-7 from their 20 overs against some steady bowling.
Thorsten Robinson (20) and George Cockayne (11) gave the early momentum, and Alex Senior batting at No 4 hit a valuable 30 before retiring not out.
Good late-order runs were added by Josh Lowes (15) to ensure a challenging target was set.
J Rourke was the pick of the Stocksfield bowlers, taking 4-20.
The Alnmouth bowlers applied pressure from the start, and Robinson and Senior had Stocksfield struggling at 7-2 after seven overs.
County U13s captain Luke Doneathy was difficult to dislodge and held the innings together before retiring for an excellent 31 not out. In the later overs, the Alnmouth bowler, supported by impressive fielding, kept the pressure on, as they restricted the home side to 64-6 to win by 41 runs.
The Alnmouth wicket-takers were Robinson (2), Harry Johnson (2), Harry Sutherland and James Stanley.
The victory meant that Alnmouth, having won their last four league games, clinched the league by three points from Ponteland and South Northumberland.
