ALTHOUGH not the complete washout of the previous week, the weather again affected Saturday’s league programme, three games being played to a finish and two abandoned due to heavy downpours.
The rain held off at Alnmouth where Rock were the visitors at The Wicket and an entertaining match saw the home side register a three-wicket victory.
Michael Williams with 74 and Michael Gray with 45 were the main contributors in Rock’s total of 172-6 from their 45 overs. Michael Brown returned the best bowling figures of 3-46.
In reply, the home side were in trouble at 43-4 but a stand of 71 between Mike Barlow (47) and Andrew McDonnell (46) put them on the winning path, victory coming with three wickets in hand.
The Castle Ground at Warkworth also missed the worst of the weather with the home side chalking up a six-wicket victory over Howick, thanks mainly to Mark Robson (67) and Richard Davison (33) who top-scored in a total of 143-4.
Mitford travelled to Tillside, where a 38-run victory took them to the top of the table as rivals Warenford and Wooler saw their games abandoned.
