Alnmouth & Lesbury defeated Berwick in the Northumberland Cricket League, Premier Division, on Saturday – but there were defeats for Warkworth and Tillside
Nicholas Denton was on fire with the ball for Alnmouth, taking 9-43, as Berwick were all out for 125.
Tom Vickers then hit an unbeaten 64 in the run chase, as Alnmouth scored a winning 129-2, to earn an eight-wicket victory.
Warkworth were made to toil in the league’s top flight, as Blagdon Park beat them by 115 runs.
Shaun Collins was Park’s top scorer, firing 72 from 69 balls, to help his side close on 238-9.
Michael Sewell (44) and Adam Hall (34 not out) led a middle-order fightback for Warkworth, but it was not enough, as the Castle Field side were restricted to 123-8 from their allotted 50 overs.
Tillside also tasted Premier Division defeat on Saturday, losing to Bedlington by 78 runs.
Batting first, the victors scored 228-7, with fine knocks from Sean McCafferty (72) and Kevin Harnett (53).
McCafferty proved just as dangerous with the ball, taking 4-56, as Tillside were dismissed for 150.
