TABLE-TOPPING Alnmouth continued their march in the Surridge Indoor Cricket League as they extended their unbeaten run.
This time, Chatton were on the receiving end of the Alnmouth juggernaut.
Batting first, Alnmouth posted 152, with the likes of Tom Vickers, Andrew Hodgson, Ian Pearson and Robin Tudor scoring well.
In reply, Raj Lodh piled on some runs for Chatton, but Edwin Gillion, Will Young and Ian Pearson all bowled well for Alnmouth to help seal victory, as Chatton could only muster 109 from their allotted overs.
The other match, in what was the fifth week of fixtures, saw Warkworth record a narrow win over Ulgham. Peter Wilson and Craig Turnbull got among the wickets for Ulgham but Warkworth managed to post a competitive 128. Ulgham’s run chase saw Peter Wilson bat well, helping his side accelerate to 22 from eight balls, but Warkworth’s George Puddephatt took three wickets in his first over to peg Ulgham back.
The game went to the death, with Ulgham needing four to win from the last ball, but they could only manage a single and finished just short on 125.
The league is played at Alnwick’s Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre on Wednesday evenings and the next round of matches sees Rothbury take on Ulgham at 7pm followed by Chatton’s match with Alnwick at 8pm.
