Visit the new Solar Gateway showroom for the lowdown on money-saving energy products to cut your bills

If you’ve ever wondered exactly what’s involved in installing solar panels, how they can cut your energy bills and how quickly, then visit the newly-opened Solar Gateway showroom.
Based on Wooler High Street and serving the whole of Northumberland, Solar Gateway is a one-stop shop for anyone looking for answers to all those questions and more.
See live systems in action
Visitors will see live systems in action along with lots of equipment on display including inverters, batteries and panels.
Just as importantly, they can also get advice and information from friendly, knowledgeable staff who can discuss the best approach for their property and also debunk some of the myths surrounding installations.

Cutting the cost of energy
Operations manager Mark Ambler is on a mission to help customers realise the benefits of solar power and essentially to cut their household or commercial costs.
There’s still a degree of mistrust around the industry and not a huge amount of clear information out there. So we’re very happy for people to call in and see us, ask questions and get all the advice they need.
Customers can also expect total transparency from Solar Gateway. Mark added: “When we provide quotes, we assess the cost of installation and also how soon they’ll get that investment back. We always leave people to think about the quote with no pressure at all to sign up.”
Price drop on solar equipment
Mark pointed out that prices for solar equipment have dropped while energy costs have soared so it’s the ideal time for people to consider their options.
A self-confessed people person, he is passionate about giving customers the facts they need to help them make informed decisions followed by those all-important savings.
And the savings can be considerable. Mark gives the example of one customer whose monthly electricity bill dropped from £160 to just £19 - mostly consisting of the provider’s standing charges. Within six years, he says, the initial outlay will be recovered and the cost of powering a property after that will remain minimal.

Helping to reduce emissions
One misconception is that solar panels are inefficient in winter but they only need daylight and not direct sunlight. Switching to solar reduces greenhouse emissions and protects against the rising costs of electricity. Batteries can be charged during cheap rates overnight at a cost of around 7p per kwh.
With a background in engineering and manufacturing, Mark re-trained eight years ago to run Solar Gateway. He oversees the installations and works closely with a team of well-qualified fitters, who all undergo training to achieve additional qualifications.
Household disruption is also kept to a minimum and installing solar power in an average-sized house will usually take around five or six hours.
Award-winning service
With quality and reputation as top priorities, Solar Gateway is proud to be a Which? Trusted Trader and has also won recognition in the Energy Efficiency Regional Awards.
