Normal People is the new hit BBC TV show that everyone has been talking about. In one episode, main characters Connell and Marianne stay at a holiday home in Italy - and now you can too.
The stunning villa featured in the programme is available to rent on Airbnb. This is everything you need to know about booking a stay there after lockdown and travel restrictions are lifted.
What is the villa like?
The villa, called the Estate of Verzano, or ‘Il Casale’, is situated in Sant’Oreste in Lazio, Italy. Sant’Oreste is in the Metropolitan City of Rome, and is located about 22 miles north of Rome itself.
The Airbnb description states that it is an “old country house with untouched charm, immersed in the Roman countryside” and that it has belonged to the same family for over 150 years.
At your disposal will be two bedrooms, a separate living area, a dining room, kitchenette and modern bathroom, as well as two farmhouses and a private pool.
The listing also explains that this property has been “used on several occasions for film and advertising shooting”, and - as well as being featured in Normal People - was used while filming Eat, Pray, Love, starring Julia Roberts.
How much does it cost?
The cost of staying at the estate will depend on a number of factors - from what time in the year you decide to go, to how many guests you’re bringing along with you.
For one night for one guest, it will just cost £35 - and the villa can sleep up to six guests. If you stay for a whole week, the host offers a 30 per cent discount.
High praise from guests
People who have stayed at the estate have praised it highly for its stunning views and welcoming host, Giada.
“This place was amazing, beautiful location, off the beaten track. Truly stunning,” wrote one reviewer.
Another said, “The most beautiful accommodation in the most beautiful setting, just over an hour from Rome. Love scenery in the surrounding area and Giada and her family were extremely welcome and couldn’t have taken better care of us. Would definitely return, 10/10.”
