The Royal Albert Hall shows you can watch at home

The doors may be locked at the Royal Albert Hall – but the iconic venue is still treating fans to remarkable live music.

The #RoyalAlbertHome programme presents an array of leading musicians from a wide range of genres playing from their own homes. Participants so har have included Katherine Jenkins, Richard Thompson and Jesca Hoop.

The second half of May promises delights for an array of ages and tastes.

Baritone Maciek O’Shea from Albert’s Band presents Opera for Kids on Saturday March 16 from 2pm.Maciek will entertain families with opera favourites by Mozart, Handel and Bizet, as well as some lesser-known arias and some traditional songs.

The performance will be available to watch as it goes out and then on-demand after broadcast.Things get scientific but no less fun on Sunday May 17 with Sea Shambles.

Anchored by Radio 4 favourite Robin Ince, phycisist and oceanographer Dr Helen Czerski and naturalist, explorer and wildlife presenter Steve Backshall, the show will see a range of special guest scientists, comedians and musicians join the fun from their living rooms for a science, music and comedy show about the past, present and future of our blue planet. The show starts at 7pm.

Scouting for Girls will perform an exclusive set as part of the Royal Albert Home sessions on Thursday May 21 from 8.15pm.

The band shot to fame in 2007 with their chart-topping eponymous debut album, which spawned the singles She’s So Lovely and Elvis Ain’t Dead, and last year celebrated the release of their fifth studio album, The Trouble with Boys.

And the Ivor Novello-winning producer, writer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and technologist Imogen Heap performs from her home on Friday May 29 from 7.30pm. Heap won a Grammy for her work with Taylor Swift and was Grammy nominated as the Composer & Arranger for the acclaimed West End musical Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
