MAY I say congratulations and thank you to Jane, Duchess of Northumberland and to the people of Alnwick.
The Royal visit was an amazing experience and it was quite surreal to see Her Majesty strolling along Bondgate Within.
The crowds were very calm but the excitement was electric and it was wonderful to see so many people in the centre of Alnwick smiling.
I would like to congratulate Northumberland County Council on the cleanliness of the town, it looked fabulous and it was obvious that a lot of people had put in a lot of effort to achieve such a high standard.
The town itself looked great with the bunting and flags and was very tastefully decorated. The Christmas Lights committee did a great job and it was lovely that they were all accredited for their efforts.
Despite the recession, I really do believe that Alnwick can go from strength to strength and the main reason for that is the kindness and support of local people. It was also lovely to see local businesses with their flags up and helping to generate some atmosphere in the town centre.
Alnwick is now well and truly ‘on the map’ and there it shall stay.
