VOTING: Bird-Brained suggestions

With reference to your article Gazette, March 19, Page 3, promoting the idea of voting for a British national bird.

It doesn’t take a trained naturalist to realise that the list of 10 birds offered has been created by a bunch of ‘twitchers’ with a biased agenda.

Despite the beauty, elegance and desirability of the majority of those put forward, only three – the blackbird, robin and wren – live all year long throughout the UK and are, therefore, truly national British birds.
