My two daughters and I spent the last weekend based in Warkworth.
My elder daughter is a semi-retired teacher and my younger daughter is a hospital nurse.
I write to say what a wonderful experience it was to be in your lovely county, among such happy, friendly people.
First we visited Berwick and afterwards went across to Holy Island, both of which places we were pleased to experience.
The next day we went to Alnwick and looked round the craft market. My daughters were talking to a lady stallholder who came across to me and said: “I do not have a dad now so may I give you a hug?” So there we were, in the middle of the market, having a lovely hug.
From Alnwick we went towards Cragside. My daughter, who was driving her car, pulled off the road because of a puncture. She was trying to remove the wheel when a young man stopped his car and did the wheel change for her.
He would not accept any reward and we say a big thank you to him for his kind assistance, for which we are most grateful.
It is about 10 years since we last visited your lovely county, but hope it will not be long before we come again.
Thank you all.
