The only place I now call home

My love affair with Northumberland did not start in childhood.

I cannot claim to have played in rock pools as a child, but my children and my dogs certainly did. I was 26 when I came to live in Northumberland not really knowing what to expect.

Now, more than 50 years later, I have no wish to live anywhere else.

My children have left the county for work. They are happy to visit me occasionally, or is it the fantastic area which calls them back? The land and sea scapes are so incredibly beautiful words cannot do justice to them. The love hurts!

Every day regardless of the weather, I know how lucky I am to be ‘Northumbrian’ if only by adoption, and have no intention of returning to my southern roots.
