May we through your letters page thank everyone who helped my daughter Airah Rose and I raise more than £982 at our recent grand jumble sale and auction last Saturday in Alnmouth.
All of the money raised was counted and banked on the Sunday for the Salvation Army to use on Monday to help feed and accommodate homeless people in our area this winter.
First, we would like to thank all those people too numerous to name who live in and around the area of Alnmouth who donated items or/and attended on the day, packed out the Old Chapel in Alnmouth and bought, we hope, some bargains.
Secondly, we would like to thank the companies/organisations/individuals that donated goods which were either used as items for auction or for the tombola.
They include Alnmouth Post Office, The Alnwick Garden, local artist Sue Fenlon, Howick Gardens, Northumberland Coast and Country Cottages, Northumbria Pets, George Penrose and Son and Thomas Cook.
Thirdly, to thank all those friends and family who helped on the day, as well as the Northumberland Gazette who provided publicity for this and other associated events.
But the fund-raising does not stop there. The next event is a Valentine’s Charity Ball on Saturday, February 14, from 7pm at the Hindmarsh Hall in Alnmouth.
The event includes food, a bar, live music, dancing, a talent auction and grand raffle.
Tickets are £15 and can be obtained from Alnmouth Post Office or Thomas Cook in Alnwick or by telephoning 07713842398. To make a donation or see what progress we are making, visit www.JustGiving/RobinWinder.
