LAST Friday evening in the Memorial Hall at Warkworth, popular local choir Werca’s Folk (winner of the St Oswald’s Choir of The Year competition) gave a concert in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The event was attended by a capacity audience, who thoroughly enjoyed the choir’s performance.
The choir members too, had a lovely evening, and were very grateful to have the opportunity to sing in aid of a charity very close to their hearts.
Due to the generosity of those who attended, the event made a total of £400, which it was decided should be split between the national organisation, which carries out research into this condition, and the Newcastle MND Centre, which provides support and equipment to families and patients.
I should very much like to thank all those who took part in the evening, the audience, the husbands and partners of the choir members who helped with the raffle and drinks, and the singers themselves, for making it such a memorable evening, and for raising such a sum.
The money will undoubtedly be welcome, and put to good use.
Thank you all again.
