On Saturday, July 4, the Rothbury Highland Pipe Band celebrated its 60th year since it was reformed after the war.
Not only did we do a mini-tour of the village, via several establishments for refreshment, but we also had the added bonus of having Robson Green and his film crew doing some filming and interviewing for Robson’s next series.
After that, we finished up at our final destination for a hog roast and the presentation of a new Drum Major’s Mace.
The day was very memorable and will go down as an enjoyable experience for all those who were involved.
On behalf of the members of the band, I must put on record our thanks to Robson Green and his film crew who were a pleasure to work with, our local hostelries for their hospitality, the community committee for all its hard work behind the scenes in organising the presentation and raising funds for the band, the communities of Rothbury and Coquetdale for their undying support, and all those who took part and helped to make this such a positively happy day.
On a personal note, I give my heartfelt thanks to the members of the band for their patience and dedication.
Well done everyone and thank you so much. It is an honour and a pleasure to be part of our heritage.
David Brown MBE,
Chairman and Drum Major
