An open letter to MP Anne-Marie Trevelyan
Further to our exchanges on Twitter, I am writing to say that your tweet is all I have had in response to our meeting on October 2 regarding the changes to women’s state retirement age.
I was expecting, as your constituent, to have had a longer, written response and feel that a tweet does not allow you to set out your actions and views in sufficient detail.
However, I was encouraged to read that you “fight on” to secure better transitional arrangements for the women affected, and in this regard I would draw your attention to a forthcoming debate.
As your constituent I expect you to attend to dispel any misconceptions around 1950s’ women and pensions and the 1995 and 2011 Pension Acts, by which I and around 500,000 other women have been adversely affected.
This is a really important issue and I trust you will support me.
I look forward to hearing from you (in writing rather than on Twitter).
