Our land

A poem written by 11-year-old Hannah Wealleans of Belford:

Our land...

As trees change colour

and waves crash against the golden sand

As scarlet berries grow

and the farmers collect their crops

As rainbow trout swim elegantly in ponds

and snails slide along the cold pavement

that is covered with soggy leaves.

Thank the Lord,

Thank you for helping us share

Northumberland

Thank you for helping this beautiful land

Thank you for helping us take care of it

Thank you for giving us crops

Thank you for making the sun rise making the sky turn saffron and ruby red and

Thank you for making the sun set turning the sky indigo as we watch in amazement

Our land...

Northumberland
