ON behalf of the volunteer fund-raising group may I thank all those businesses and individuals who so kindly donated vouchers and gifts towards the fund-raising ball we held at the Guest Hall on March 2, in aid of HospiceCare, North Northumberland.
We were overwhelmed by the generosity shown to us and are truly grateful.
The ball was attended by 150 equally generous guests, who dipped deep into their pockets, raising in excess of £8,000 and they too deserve our appreciation.
The evening was a huge success and we thank everyone who supported our event.
A BIG thank-you to over 40 Shilbottle folk, of all ages, who came equipped with spades on a lovely sunny day to plant trees on the field next to the Community Hall on March 24.
Over 100 native species, donated by the Woodland Trust for the Diamond Jubilee, were planted in half-an-hour by these willing volunteers.
Such was their community spirit that they also cleared several bags of litter before having well-earned refreshments. Let’s hope these saplings thrive and become a lasting reminder of the Jubilee and also provide wildlife with food and shelter.
Well done everyone.

THE Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of Alnwick would like to thank everyone who supported the beetle drive at the Pottergate Centre on Friday, March 16.
We are delighted that the fun night raised a total of £416 which has been donated to HospiceCare North Northumberland and the Great North Air Ambulance.
