The county council state that the bus company is required to give to traffic commissioners 56 days notice of intention to withdraw the service.
Assuming they fulfilled this requirements the latest date for advising the commissioners (With a copy to the local authority), was July 5.
We are told the local authority have no statutory duty to advise the local communities. Maybe not, but surely they have a moral duty.
The advice of the withdrawal is sent to them by the bus company presumably with a view to the council passing on the information.
If the “Endeavour” of the council to tell communities as soon “As possible” constitutes failing to so in 56 days, then I suggest it is time that employees of the council were reminded by our elected representative that their salaries are paid out of the public purse.
