Food festival gratitude

I would like to express my thanks to all the sponsors, traders, supporters, volunteers and visitors at the weekend’s Alnwick Food Festival.

It is fantastic to see and hear so may visitors from all over the North East and, indeed, the whole country enjoying the atmosphere and joining in the fun. We had coach parties from all over and the event can only add to the tourism offering of the town and the area.

Hopefully, all those who came to wander round the stalls, watch one of the cookery demonstrations or pop into the beer festival will have seen enough of our wonderful town to want to make a return visit in the future.

Special thanks go to Duncan Fisher and the team at The Apartment Group/Newton Hall for providing a spectacular evening in the Northumberland Hall on Saturday night, also to Cussins Ltd and to Outcook Home Cookery School for sponsoring Jean-Christophe Novelli’s appearance.

We are eternally grateful to Outlook HEC for providing a fantastic demonstration kitchen and the guerilla kitchen for the event and we are going to encourage more local businesses to support the event and get behind it in the future.

It is also worth mentioning that without the support of sponsors such as Laithwaite’s and BT, the event would not happen as it is free to attend and no money can be raised on entry to the Market Place, the main focus of the festival. We are grateful to them.

I would like to ask if anyone out there feels that they would like to help in the planning and organising of another food festival next year to please get in touch with me via email at

Many hands make light work, as they say!
