On Boxing Day 2015, Rothbury riverside appeared to be hit by the worst floods since the flood of September 2008.
The water level was also at its worst in neighbouring Thropton for seven years.
Since the floods of September 2008, the bridge in Rothbury might have been renewed, but I don’t think anything has been done to prevent floods from trying to reach Rothbury on the riverside.
In July 2009 and September 2012, the Coquet burst its banks again, but not like the 2008 flood, though the River Coquet often burst its banks.
The Couqet in Rothbury twice burst its banks in the month of December 2015 – a month to remember.
