AS a local paper, we have the best interests of our readers at heart and it is good to hear those we represent are appreciative of the work we do.
We have a small but extremely dedicated team, who work hard to bring news to the doorsteps of readers across north Northumberland and beyond.
But we do a lot more than just write about news.
Over the last year we have campaigned to clean up Alnwick’s bus station, we are currently trying to keep north Northumberland’s streets and public areas clean with our Scoop the Poop crusade and we support local businesses with our Keep It Local stance.
And we organise events, such as the Santa Saunter, Pride of Northumberland Awards and the Business Awards, to give back to the people that we represent.
We are proud to be a part of this fantastic community and we give everyone the power to stand up and be counted. As the comments we have received in Local Newspaper Week show, many of these opportunities would be lost without a local paper.
Despite the advances in technology and the increasing use of the internet as a source of news – which we also use – the Northumberland Gazette has continued to thrive. We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for the Newspaper Society’s Regional Newspaper of the Year Award, under 20,000 circulation.
None of this, however, would be possible without the support of our loyal readers and we’d like to take this chance to thank each and every one of you.
