Digging in for the Jubilee

May I take this opportunity to thank the small band of dedicated people who cleared and prepared the beds at the Town Square and the bottom of the Wynd ready for the Diamond Jubliee festivities.

All the plants were grown at HMP Northumbria by the inmates and I think you will agree the results are excellent.

Lots of groups have been involved so I would like to say a big thank-you for all your hard work.

It has certainly brought lots of colour to Amble, and the best feeling of togetherness, showing a united front, bringing families and friends together.

The big question from many people is ‘Why can we not have more of these events?’

The following people helped and if I have left anyone out, a thousand apologies: Amble Town Council, Amble Action Group, Coquet Church’s Together, Amble in Bloom, Business Club, Development Trust, Harbour Commisioners, RNLI, Coastguards, Nick Spurr, Shorebase Trust, Army Cadets, Girl Guides, Peoples Trust, Face Painters, Badge Makers, Harbour Lights Singers, Les Baston, The Falcon Owners, The Amusements etc, Youth Project, the bands who played for free of charge, how good were they?

Last be not least, the people who went out litter picking before the event.

What a wonderful, wonderful weekend we all had.

To paraphrase a TV ad, I love Northumberland, me – especially Amble.
