Card support for charities

I am not ‘modern’. I don’t have a computer. Email, text, Facebook, Twitter are all foreign to me.

I am reliant on the written or printed word, in particular your letters’ page, to say thank you.

My hobby is card-making – all kinds of greetings cards, birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, etc, I do them all. I sell my cards to anyone who asks, mainly my relatives and friends. All the money and donations go to charity.

Over the many years I have been able to give £1,000 to the Freeman Hospital Children’s Heart Ward, £500 to Alnwick Stroke Club, and £500 to the Great North Air Ambulance. Today I reached another target when I presented a £1,000 cheque to Wilma Hunter, who received it on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support.

And so, through your letters’ page, may I say a big thank-you to the thousands of people (many I don’t know) who have given money to these charities through buying my greetings cards.

For the next few years my hobby will support our local hospice.
