Arts festival success

Although the weather was unhelpful to say the least, the eighth Alnmouth Arts Festival last weekend was another great success, with a record number of visitors enjoying a day out in Alnmouth to see exhibitions, spread throughout the village, from some quite outstanding local artists and craftworkers.

There is fantastic artistic talent in our region and we are proud to be able to show some of it.

The organising committee would like to thank all of our sponsors and supporters, many of whom were gratefully acknowledged in the Trail Guide, but also all those who so willingly allowed us to use their premises as venues or loaned us display equipment for the event.

Plus, of course, the children, dancers, musicians and singers who added so much to the atmosphere of the occasion.

Far too many to mention individually here, but we really appreciate all their help and co-operation.

Also the army of volunteers who helped us prepare the venues, manage the parking, sell the Trail Guides and clear up afterwards.

It is a great team effort and we are so fortunate to have such a great team.

A particular thank-you to those who turned out very early on Saturday morning to drag our ruined marquee from the tree where the gale had left it!
