Children at Embleton’s Vincent Edwards Primary School learnt about the RNLI, thanks to a special visit from a D-Class lifeboat.
The vessel, which is from the Lifeboat Collage, has been used at Craster Lifeboat Station for capsize training.
Local operations manager Kevin Brown said: “It’s great to be able to let the children get into the boat and see the equipment for themselves. You can talk about a lot of what goes on in the RNLI, but if you let the children see for themselves, especially the younger ones, I think they take it in better.
“The children saw how to use the personal safety equipment and how to operate a life jacket. We have received some lovely letters from the children thanking us for taking the lifeboat to their school.”
