Young dancers take to stage in Giselle

Six North Northumberland dancers are living their dreams after being cast in a professional production of Giselle.

Presented by English Youth Ballet, the youngsters will be performing at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House, alongside professional dancers, next month.

Victoria Riley, 13, from Alnwick, Jemma Thew, 13, from Alnwick, Kate Buddle, 13, from Longhoughton, Cora Drummond, 15, from Alnwick , Isla Hutton-Stott, 10, from Alnwick and Katie Barker, 12, from Morpeth, will all be peforming in the production.

The ballet will star international principal dancers Adele Robbins, Amy Drew, Monica Tapiador, Oliver Speers, Richard Read, Brenden Bratulic and Trevor Wood.

Director Janet Lewis MBE said: “We are especially excited about returning to Newcastle with our poignant adaptation of Giselle. We always find extremely talented dancers when we audition for young cast members in Newcastle.”

Rehearsals for the ballet are currently taking place at Emmanuel School, West Bridgford.

There will be just three performances in Newcastle, one at 7.30pm on September 9 and at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on September 10.
