The chairman of Rothbury Parish Council has spoken of a great year of engagement with the parish and county council.

At the annual assembly of the parish council, chairman Mark Gilson spoke of how busy the past 12 months were.

Coun Gilson said: “We started with an election which Debbie Noble won with over 50 per cent of the vote.

“We continue to liaise with other parishes through the parish cluster meetings. These are most useful when considering subjects that affect all of Coquetdale such as rural crime, our beloved landslip and our not-so-popular Northumberland County Council core strategy.

“In terms of co-operation, our most recent joint venture is the Mid-Coquetdale Neighbourhood Plan which links Cartington, Rothbury, Thropton and Witton and Tosson in a united front to control the development of our parishes.”

The chairman spoke of the council’s budget and added: “Your parish councillors have not claimed one single penny worth of expenses in the financial year 2014/15.”
