STUDENTS at the Duchess’s Community High School in Alnwick have met potential future employers at a special careers fair.
Stalls at the event, held on Thursday, included the Army, HMP Acklington, MSD Cramlington, the Navy, RAF, NHS, Ryder Architecture, BL Hairdressing, the Northumberland Gazette, the Marine Biology Department at Newcastle University, Northumberland College, National Apprenticeship Service, Cskills, Tyne & Wear Museums, Covance, Cundall, Sainsbury’s, Connexions and Northumberland Estates.
Organiser Peter Mawer, from the high school, said: “The careers fair has been very successful – our main aims of exposing the Year 10 students to the wide variety of roles available in companies and of giving them a push to achieve their full potential in Year 11 have been well met.
“We are very grateful to the companies who gave up their staff time to be here and are especially pleased that we had representation from Alnwick, including the Gazette of course, wider afield in Northumberland and also Newcastle.
“We will definitely look to repeat the experience next year.”
