Work on town roads due to begin today
Work to preserve roads in Alnwick is due to begin today.
Contractor Colas will be carrying out the micro-asphalt programme on behalf of the county council. Micro-asphalt is a thin covering to preserve the existing road surface and increase its longevity.
Today, work will be done along Canongate, followed by remedial work at Denwick Lane on Sunday, June 3, subject to weather and mechanical breakdowns. Rolling road closures will be in place.
The process can appear messy when first laid and can require several visits by a sweeper to remove loose chippings, so there will be a delay in reapplying road markings.
