Women in business to be celebrated

The winners of the North East Business Woman of the Year Awards (WIN Awards) will be announced tomorrow at the annual ceremony at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton.

Among those competing is Gill Rice of Northumberland-based Tyne Valley Plastics Ltd, who is competing for the Woman in STEM award, sponsored by Newcastle High School for Girls.

There will be 300 leading business figures at the event where among the award winners will be the region’s Best Small Business, the Rising Star and the Woman in STEM.

Nickie Gott, of She’s Gott It Events, which organises the awards and chairman of North East England Chamber of Commerce Women’s Advisory Board, said: “The whole aim of these long-standing awards is to help promote the brilliant achievements of so many women in our business community and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.

“The winners will showcase the incredible tenacity and hard work needed to succeed in business and also reveal the great rewards that can follow from this.”
