Woman seriously hurt after coming out of moving car

Police are appealing for information after a woman was found injured on the side of a busy road in Northumberland.

At around 4.35pm this afternoon police received a report that a woman had come out of a moving vehicle on the eastbound carriageway of the A69 near to the Bridgeway roundabout.

Emergency services attended and the woman has been taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

One lane of the A69 was also closed so police could help manage the incident.

An investigation into the circumstances around the incident are ongoing and police are now appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.

The vehicle is believed to be a black Ford Fiesta and a 23-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident.
