Woman killed in motorbike crash in Northumberland

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was killed in a crash in Northumberland yesterday (Monday, June 25).

Northumbria Police received a report of a two-vehicle collision, involving a lorry and a motorcycle, at around 12.47pm, on Rivermead in Kielder.

Emergency services attended the scene but sadly the passenger of the motorcycle, a 63-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the motorcycle, a 64-year-old man, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. His condition is described as critical but stable.

Inquiries are ongoing as officers investigate the circumstances of the crash.

The road was closed for six hours to allow a thorough forensic investigation and recovery of the vehicles.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have any information that could assist their investigation, particularly anyone who might have dash-cam footage of the moments leading up to the collision.
