Woman killed in A1 crash named

The woman killed in a crash on the A1 last week has been named.

Lisa Marie Wood, 49, from Spittal, near Berwick, died from her injuries after the car she was driving was involved in a collision with another car and an HGV two miles north on Alnwick, at around 7am, last Thursday.

The driver of the second vehicle, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital and then discharged and the driver of the HGV suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed in both directions for around six hours after the crash with cars diverted along the old A1 between the Denwick and Charlton Mires junctions.
