Woman injured after car goes into hedge

A woman has been taken to hospital this morning after the car she was driving ended up in a hedge off a major road through Northumberland.

Northumbria Police was called to a one-vehicle collision on the A696 one mile north of Ponteland, by West Coldcotes, at 8.25am.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “A car had gone off the road, for reasons yet to be established, and came to rest in a hedge.

Paramedics attended and the woman driver was taken to the RVI in Newcastle. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.”
