A woman was airlifted to hospital after being found collapsed in a remote area of Northumberland.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the spot between Wooler and Holy Island at 1.30pm yesterday.
The woman was treated at the scene by the air ambulance doctor and paramedic and North East Ambulance Service paramedics.
She was given an anaesthetic and taken to the RVI in Newcastle in the helicopter Pride of Cumbria.
Her condition was described as critical.
